Hi list, Looking to get some RAM that will work in an Xserve (2008 model, Xserve 2,1, A1246). According to EveryMac this machine shipped with PC2-6400 (DDR2-800) RAM. I've seen mixed reports as to whether PC2-5300 (DDR2-667) RAM will work in this particular model, so I'm not sure if it will or not. In either case it has to be the server-grade ECC fully-buffered RAM.
My machine has two modules installed with the heatsinks so they take up the physical space of four slots. Hoping to get a minimum of 4GB, preferably 8GB, to add and fill out the other slots. Preferably I'm looking for two 4GB sticks without the big heatsinks, but I'll entertain reasonable offers. Let me know what you have. Looking to spend something like $50 or so.
