I’m selling a early 2008 17-inch MacBook Pro. It features a limited edition 2.6 GHz processor and 512 MB VRAM. This version doesn’t come around very often.
The graphics card is a new OEM NVIDIA professionally installed three weeks ago. I’ve been using the machine on a steady basis since then. It works as it should. While the logic board was out for repair I removed all other components from the case. They were cleaned and returned to place. All key caps were removed for cleaning as was the area below them. There is no dust or grime on or in this laptop. The 500 GB 7200 RPM hard drive has a month of use on it. See photo’s for test results. I will erase the hard drive and install OS X 10.11 making it ready for the new owner to set up. The battery is excellent. It lasts for hours. It has 14 load cycles and charges 100% of factory capacity. A two month old Apple OEM 85w power adapter is included. The screen is like-new bright and practically perfect. I know of two 1/8th inch tiny scratches. My guess is that a diamond ring accidentally nicked the screen. They are by no means problematic. I mention them only in the interest of full disclosure. The case is really nice. See photo’s. Hinges are springy tight, all case seams align, and all surfaces are clean and smooth. The laptop seldom left home. The 17-inch screen is a nice size for use in place of a desktop. RAM is 4 GB and new. The optical drive, wifi, ethernet, web cam and all other ports are in perfect working order. I’ve inserted a new SanDisk ExpressCard (see photo’s) for use with SD, SDHC and other format cards. I see no reason why this laptop shouldn’t continue working for years to come. I believe the 2.6 GHz model is the only pre-unibody MBPro to work with OS X 10.11.6., which works flawless with the 2.6 GHz/512MB VRAM combination. When adding the costs to keep this beautiful machine in top condition the asking price is more than fair. $149 (plus shipping) for the new graphics card, $79 AC adapter, $60 hard drive, $45 RAM, $45 battery = more than $300.00.
