I've owned the iPad since 2014. I replaced the cracked screen glass but it didn't remain adhered. I should have bought a tape kit too.
However I had a partial rool of space black metal tape left over from another project. I used it to hold the display glass in place. I also bought a nice non-slip rubber case. The iPad works without issue and looks acceptable .. to me anyway. The glass is perfect. The battery is still excellent. According to App Store Battery software from FellowSoft it's at 100% original capacity. The iPad will arrive erased and ready for set up.
