Hiya Swappers, I have a 2012 15" Retina MacBook Pro (A1398) that was running like a champ and just didn't wake up one morning last month. The laptop is in great condition otherwise. I got it 4 years ago from someone who never used it as a laptop, so the cycle count is low and the only signs of wear at all our on the bottom (just normal minor scuffs). It had the monitor ghosting issue when I got it, so I replaced the entire screen assembly. Not a problem since.
When I troubleshot it, it didn't chime, wouldn't reset PRAM, but the caps lock key would light up, so something's going on in there. I tried an external monitor and nada, so don't think it has anything to do with the LCD replacement all those years ago. It's still good for parts, or maybe you know how to fix it.
