Ah sorry, I failed to see that you are referring to my last
sentence.
We just have duplicates of Canon camera models. Maybe the language
property would indeed work:

Possibly, pseudo language codes for frequent sets of codes would
help and are easy to implement.
But Lensfun had to be changed because it currently only supports the
first two letters of the language code.
