The Lensfun API in the master branch is currently undergoing some
refactoring and is far away from a new stable release. It would be
possible to create a bugfix release of the release_0.3.x branch.
However, in July it was decided that new lens profiles only go to the
master branch and new lens profiles are new features which should not go
to a bugfix release.

I think this is a good occasion to start a discussion how we can keep
the database in a long-term development branch and a stable release
branch synchronized. There are a few possibilities:

1) Application developers take the latest stable release and bundle it
with the backported database from master which can be downloaded here:
http://lensfun.sourceforge.net/db/version_1.tar.bz2

2) The lensfun team "squash merges" the backported database into the the
release branch before a bugfix release. This will create an ugly history
of database commits in the release branch but will keep the data bundled
within an official release.

How do you and the others think about that?

Sebastian
