Hi All
Before I start this message I want to 100% acknowledge that I know this
project is run entirely by volunteers in their own time and therefore I
have no right to expect anything.
However, So that I can make informed decisions about which software to
stick with or abandon I have to ask is this project still running?
I queried on this list when I found it about two weeks ago to try and find
out if the tarball at http://wilson.bronger.org/lensfun-db/version_1.tar.bz2
is being maintained for windows user to use for updates, but have still had
no official response.
One volunteer Junkyardsparkle did come back to me to say they didn't know
and generally be very helpful so I submitted some images to try and help
plug some gaps this gave me access to the github and I can see that since
the 6th November 2017 nobody other than junkyardsparkle has picked up a
calibration job - so this leads me to wondering is the project dead?
If it is it is a real shame and I hope someone picks it up, maybe one of
the commercial entities that use it could buy it and move it forward in the
longer term but for general users like myself it would be really helpful to
know;
- Is the tarball being updated/maintained? (an alert to the mailing list
when it is would be very helpful)
- Is it worth continuing uploading calibration images? As if the project
is stalled they will never make it through to us at the user end so perhaps
we would be better off lokking for alternative software.
Once again regardless of your responses, I thank the founders and all
volunteers for the work done to date.
