I think the implementation of your request is as follows, which I'll
perform as soon as other duties permit:

1. Update my local copy of the trunk.
2. Merge the thyrsus branch.
3. Get all unit tests to pass.
4. Check into the local copy of the trunk.
5. Push onto the trunk.
