Some may be much > longer lived than others, of course. I use launchpad for backup, so if I do significant work I do indeed create a launchpad branch. 'b push' is about the quickest backup around. And I see no particular reason not to create short-lived branches on launchpad: just please mark them abandoned when you are done so they won't show up by default.
