I'm not sure there are perfect solutions to all these problems, but here are
some ideas.
1. You might experiment with @all instead of @others. This should eliminate
orphan errors.
2. I don't usually recommend @root trees, but they are, in fact, more
flexible in some situations. In particular, @unit expands the range of
section definitions.
For example, the following pattern can sometimes be useful in c programs:
- @unit
@root x.h
@root x.c
The point is that section definitions in x.c are known in x.h. For a few
