It's a known bug, and I'm not completely convinced it can be fixed.

I plan to allow the user between QScintilla and other kinds of text
widgets.  This might solve some immediate problems.  It should be
straightforward to use the threading_colorizer, for instance.

Proper colorizing is very high on my priority list.

Hmm.  I can display Arabic characters on xp, which I think is a pretty
good test.
