Some things the gui might do to help cleo and other plugins: - persistently set node text foreground colour - persistently set node background colour - manage a set of small icons drawn on the tree next to the node - provide hooks for controlling node drawing
This last one because I still think a lot of people would like to see @shadow foo.py rendered as [shadow icon] foo.py until you edit it, in which case it's rendered as the plain text. I gave up on this in Tk because of weirdness with the widget ignoring methods which should have changed the text. These are just thoughts out loud, not suggestions for priority.
