I have now pushed a fix for this. The trick is to use the toolbar "the
way it's meant to be used", i.e. add QActions to it instead of direct
widgets (the whole toobar api seems to prefer this). They look a bit
nastier now (due to context menu), I didn't look into fixing the looks
yet.

Unit tests pass, apart from the usual suspects (backlinks).
