The present qt key handling code is a horror. It appears that I have
tied myself into knots unnecessarily.

In particular, tracing the "qtKey" method shows that qt is providing
good information about the key that somehow I am contriving not to
use. In particular, qtKey is showing the difference between [ and {.
So the question is, why is this not enough??

That is, it would seem to be possible to avoid the horrible, keyboard-
dependent "shift", "keyboardUpper1" and "keyboardUppderLong". I'm
hoping that somehow I've simply gone done the wrong road.

I'll be working on this next. The present code is simply
unacceptable.
