... this is along the lines of one thing I've been thinking of - the
@thin format and sentinels are better than the .leo xml file, even for
the "outer" outline. So, if the root document was in @thin format, it
would survive version control issues much better.

There still needs to be a place for uAs, but that's a nit ;-).
