I'm aware of 'initial_split_orientation' setting. I would like to change this dynamically, by a command. This situation is similar to the one raised recently by Kent (which led to a new setting IIRC). Being able to tell leo at startup how to split the window or where to place the button toolbar is of course better than nothing. But having commands that would allow users to switch this dynamically, by having a command (and eventually binding it to a hotkey or to a script button) would make leo more usable.
And here is the proof that my initial requirement is not a caprice. I have a practical need for this. Having source code involves relatively short headlines (class and method/function names). But in my TODO I often use longer headlines. Mixing these two is inconvenient: if the tree pane is too small (which is good for nodes containing code) TODO headlines don't fit and I have to resize the split ratio. By extending the tree pane and then switching to code nodes, I see that the edit area is small and code doesn't fit already. I imagine a workflow which would allow me to go for horizontal splitting for code and hitting a hotkey to switch to vertical when working with TODO nodes with long headlines. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "leo-editor" group.
