I guess as long as these intermediate objects can have out of channel interactions with leo there's no limit on what you can do, but the core is more pure data without interface. I can't remember whether it's you or someone else whose pursuing the vi emulation, but when does that need to interact with leo beyond the "here's the new body text" level?
