You're talking about UI design, a bit deeper than cuteness.
At some point, someone will make screencasts demonstrating Leo, this
kind of refinement strikes me a just the sort of thing which makes introductory
material more compelling.
I don't think we pull out the 'cute' word until we replace the plus
icon with some bloody animated gif.
Speaking of refinement, the option to specify the icon label
wouldn't hurt, currently it does ... lowercase and "-" insertion (or so)
Specifying color might come in handy, as might a "divider" option.
("divider" implies @string qt-toolbar-location=left (or right), which rocks)
