Another idea is to put the code in an @test node, and then run the
"unit test" externally.  That appears to work for me.

This could be said to be a consequence of the "stupendous aha" :-)

More generally, running a unit test externally is a simple way of
running any desired code.  It might be useful for vim.  Perhaps there
should be an execute-script-externally command that does the same
thing without having to use the @test kludge.
