I haven't got any response from my proposed changes to the manual.
Among many other changes, they "disappear" @root from Chapter 4, since
there are serious bugs with @comment used with @root, and I intend to
significantly rewrite those sections once I'm happier with @root
myself.
Should I be more aggressive and just work on the trunk?
