My plan at present is to make minor bug fixes and additions directly in the trunk. This will make it convenient to fix bugs quickly.
I'll do the bulk of the 4.9 work in a branch. This is important: the key binding work is tricky, speculative, and will have global consequences. I'll merge the new work when it is ready for testing.
