Gregory and I discussed this privately for a few days. I then
encouraged him to make the discussion public, which he has done here,
and very well too.

Let me state (again) for the record that I would love to expand the
reach of Leo by providing plugins for editors such as jEdit, Eclipse
and Emacs.

As we discussed privately, the kind of organization that Gregory
proposal is reasonable. Points 1, 2 and 3 are "just programming", so
to speak, although it took awhile for us two to reach consensus.

Imo, Point 4 is by far the most important, because it relates to the
design of the user experience within jEdit. Such design
considerations will always be tricky because they must take into
consideration the "native" (jEdit) environment, both the user
environment and the programming environment.

Presumably, there will be a period of experimentation with the aim of
"discovering" the most natural way to integrate Leo into jEdit. This
experimentation can hardly be avoided: there are too many issues to
that require actual experience to resolve.

In any event, I fully approve of this project, and will help it in
any way I can.

Edward
