Just for kicks, I was browsing through the menus. I noted the "register" commands, but they appear to be badly named - e.g. the emacs convention would use "register-append" instead of append-to-register. This makes it easier to check what you can do with registers by alt-x register-<tab> (in a way it's the "object oriented" way, you first select object, then verb.
