Are you apt-get-ing a higher version of python from somewhere? All I
get is 2.6.6-14.

I have dpkg'd python 2.7 and 3.2, but dpkg doesn't see them when
processing your leo.deb file. See output below. Your previous
package did install, though it had an error.

dpkg -i leo_4.9~b1-1_all.deb
Selecting previously deselected package leo.
(Reading database ... 205445 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking leo (from leo_4.9~b1-1_all.deb) ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of leo:
leo depends on python (>= 2.7); however:
Version of python on system is 2.6.6-14.
dpkg: error processing leo (--install):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Processing triggers for man-db ...
Processing triggers for shared-mime-info ...
Processing triggers for hicolor-icon-theme ...
Processing triggers for desktop-file-utils ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
 leo
