I've said all this before, but I think it is worth repeating:

1. Sometimes the process of writing reveals, while I write, the answer
to questions that I have been wondering about.

2. More commonly, writing "primes the subconscious pump". I am
willing to wander around the engineering landscape because I know that
the answers will appear as if by magic later on.

3. The posts keep Leo's core developer up to speed.

Other reasons are less important:

4. The posts are a more permanent record of my thoughts. I really
don't care much about this. It's not like future historians are going
to care either :-)

Otoh, sometimes knowing that I *could* access the information if I
wanted to allows me to *forget it*. This is important for moving on
to new directions.

5. Sometimes I use posts as prewriting for documentation, but this
doesn't happen so often for EKR posts.
