I use Alt-space instead.

An excellent idea.  Not sure how to do that...

You are working too hard.  I use one-letter .bat files that open Leo
in a console.  I usually have two or three consoles open at any time,
and switch to an available console with Alt-tab.

So my workflow to start another Leo instance is::

Alt-tab (to a free console)
And *one* of the following::

e (for ekr.leo, for testing)
all (loads all my .leo files in a single qttabs gui)
d (loads LeoDocs.leo)
u (loads unitTest.leo)

And I have variants that force a particular python version:

all2,all3,d2,d3,e2,e3,u2,u3
