Rev 4639 creates a feature that I have instantly fallen in love with: a 1-pixel red border around the the pane that presently has focus.
Don't panic: this will be optional, and configurable (color and width), but that hasn't happened yet. The contrast with Solarized coloring is striking. The effect is clear, but much less jarring than huge changes in body color. Moreover, the pixel border allows uniform coloring of the body text. One obvious choice now is just a plain white background. Again, the contrast with Solarized is striking. And "contrast" is the operative word. Black text on white background. Gee, that's a radical idea :-) I think this could be a big step forward in clarity. Edward P.S. There is one thing that I don't like: the red border extends outside scrollbars. Surely there must be a notion of scrolled area to which the border can be applied. P.P.S. Another slight glitch: adding and removing the border causes the interior areas to jiggle a bit. For this reason, a 1-pixed border seems best. And as unsubtle as the color red might seem, in this case red seems to work better than other colors. As I write this, I see that alternating between red and white borders would eliminate the jiggle. EKR -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "leo-editor" group.
