Correct - this problem is currently a major barrier for todo.py users to migrate from 2.x to 3.x, that migration is not currently urgent, for me at least. I'm assuming that built in types are working, so the problem may be restricted to todo.py, if it's the only plugin using pickled core-but-not-builtin types like datetime.
