For those of you (myself included) who are uneasy with type checking,
let me restate the situation this way:  the confusion between the
*values* of strings in Leo's key-handling code is a symptom of missing
*classes*, not merely missing type checks.  Omitting these classes is
the only serious design mistake I have ever made with Leo.  It's been
a doozy.
