No, I mean when no attempt at conversion is being made, because the
docstring is just being looked at directly, or processed by other
tools.  So the looker / tools will see !<command-name>!, and I think it
might be better for them to see :cmd:`command-name`, which has broader
meaning.  The pre-processing for viewrendered display with in Leo
would be the same as you already have, except you'd
process :cmd:`command-name` instead of !<command-name>!.
