Relying on encryption looks hopeless. Today's story:

and the announcement from silent circle:

The only wise course of action, imo, is to assume the NSA is spying on
*everything* we do.
Hi Edward,

Without taking any stand on whether Leo should or shouldn't have a
feature to encrypt on save, decrypt on load, I'm wondering why 4096 bit
gpg encryption wouldn't go a long way toward making spying eyes go
elsewhere? Sure, they can decrypt it, but it in the time they take to
decrypt it, they could read 10,000 unencrypted emails.
Very true point - why make it easier for them? Or at the very least, make it less attractive.

While this point is rendered moot if they have pre-encryption access, I see no reason to blacklist the idea completely.
Reminds me of my bicycle chain. It was 3/8 inch thick. They sell 1/2
inch thick chain, but 3/8 made my chain thicker than almost everyone
else's, so mine had an opportunity cost making it almost impervious.

Jacob Peck -- I'm pretty sure that right now today, you could keep your
files at home, and while on the road hit them with a VPN. Or even an
ssh tunnel.
While possible, this is a hassle and a bother I'd rather not deal with. I use SpiderOak for online backup/sync which claims to have Zero-Knowledge, end-to-end encryption. Whether or not I trust them is another issue, and I'm not all that paranoid about my personal data. I just think the option should be there for Leo to encrypt/decrypt .leo files, and it sounds like a fun project to work on. :)
Thanks,
