Mostly a false alarm. Not every node needs to be a clone: it suffices if one of the ancestor nodes is a clone of an organizer node in the @settings tree. However, rev 6024 does properly clone the @bool swap_mac_keys node. In any event, @string initial_split_orientation does work for me.
