That might be the case if you have other settings in there that would
conflict, but I suspect the problem is (a):

Copy text, but paste as node... sneaky trick perhaps not commonly
known, if you copy text which is XML which is a valid .leo file, you
can Outline -> Paste Node and get the node(s) pasted into the
outline.
