Thanks for this.  I had missed this in irc yesterday.  I was obsessed with
vim emulation!

The primary intention was to emulate vim in a flexible manner.  In effect,
vim emulation creates *one*, very flexible, mode.


I suppose this means that the @mode machinery should remain in place.
Less work for me. I have no objection to retaining @mode: I  never realized
anyone would want @mode for anything other than vim emulation.

Steve's suggestion that we hang out on #leo is working out very well.

For those who might have missed Steve's key suggestion: we can use irc
without bother provided we turn off all alert sounds in the irc client.
That way we can check out #leo when *we* want to, and not be distracted
otherwise.

Thanks for echoing the conversation here.  Normally I would have seen it
today, but Windows did a Tuesday update last night so I lost the
conversation.
