When new options are added to Leos default settings, will I have to update myleosettings manually to reflect those? Will I have to check the new "leosettings.leo" and copy/paste the non-existing into myleosettings? Meaning, whenever Leo is updated, I will have to work on myleosettings in order to be able to use new configs, etc.
Nope!
To my understanding, leo reads leoSettings.leo first, applying all of those. Then it reads myLeoSettings.leo, using those to override what was found in leoSettings.leo. Finally, it reads any @settings nodes in the current.leo file, and applies those.
myLeoSettings.leo should just contain your settings that are *different* than the ones in leoSettings.leo. Leo will simply used the defaults found in leoSettings.leo for anything it doesn't find in myLeoSettings.leo or your current .leo file.
