I don't see a problem with current Leo reading an old @shadow file and changing the format of the private file on write, partly because you're unlikely to go back to an older version of Leo and partly because I assume you should be changing to @clean as old @shadow nodes are discovered. But I have dozens of .leo outlines and certainly don't want any of them becoming unreadable.
