How did I do this ?

A node's children are an inherent part of a node. Furthermore, all clones
are actually the same vnode. So in one sense what you ask for can't be
done, for fundamental reasons.

Instead of using clones, bookmarks may solve your problem. A bookmark
can *refer
*to a node without referring explicitly to its descendants.
