The code above only puts up the plot when --ipython is in effect. The plot 
does *not* appear without the --ipython command-line option.

No big deal, imo. It will be interesting to see if the --ipython option 
could be omitted, but that more of a curiosity thing. We might as well use 
IPython.  That's what it's for.
