​It should be possible on both Windows and Linux.  Just detach a pane
(creating a separate window) and move it to the desired position/monitor.

​To detach a pane, use the Easter Egg interface.  Right-click in any
splitter to see a pop-up menu.  Use the Open Window submenu and select the
desired pane to detach.  You should be able to save the resulting ​layout.

Please try this and let us know how it works.
