It is straightforward to spawn a new console, but on Windows at least the second console probably can't be made to return useful output in a timely way, if at all. I'll try the socket server way next. If anyone has other ideas I would like to hear them. *Note*: at one time I had hopes that Leo's background manager in leoBackground.py might have something to offer. But no, that runs separate processes in Leo's own console. So this is a non-trivial project. Imo, this project is even more interesting, and potentially more valuable, than it seemed earlier today.
