All branches seem stable and all are up to date with master. I started the recovery operation by clearing everything in .leo/db. It seemed like the only way forward. Alas, clearing the cache may have masked problems.
Please report any inter-branch "pollution" immediately. It *might* be that merging the new-read branch into all other branches has solved all problems, but there is wishful thinking in that statement. Please be on guard.
