Ah. That's it. Why didn't I think of this? I had it backwards, that every branch would have a *private *branch.md. Your way is much better: Add to it when creating a branch and delete from it when deleting a branch. Furthermore, the "say nothing" (bland) common branch description can now say something, namely that branches.md tells what each branch does, who started the branch, and whatever else comes to mind.
