​I'm not sure how to fix this.  Here's what today's testing revealed:

​Everything works expected on the Mac when using a *Microsoft *keyboard.

When using the *Mac *keyboard, lots of Alt keys generate special unicode
(non-ascii) keys.  In some cases, no key event is generated at all.

To see what's happening, enable the trace and traceKeys switch in
filter.eventFilter.​
