I have just finished what may be the last work on the refactor branch. The highlights:
*Simpler code* Some horrible methods have disappeared. Others have collapsed in complexity. All evil ivars and kwargs are gone. Afaik, no more simplifications or optimizations remain. Let me know if you disagree. As much as possible, the new code is stateless/functional. Many of the improvements are based on Vitalije's suggestions. *Summary* I'll be merging the "refactor" branch into "devel" in a few days. We will want at least two weeks of testing in devel before the next beta release. The new code will be much easier to understand and maintain than the old.
