But only because I have a personal habit of using single for restricted vocabularies (dict keys, things that are defined on a list somewhere), and double for more narrative text. "I've preferred double for narrative text because you don't need to fiddle with apostrophes" but stats['spd']['mean'] just reminds me spd and mean are defined upstream somewhere are are not just arbitrary.
