My git overview page <https://github.com/edreamleo> shows I have done little programming for the last six weeks or so. This hiatus is unprecedented. For the last 30+ years my longest pauses have been on the order of a week or two. They have always happened during vacations.
This hiatus has multiple causes, physical, personal, political, and Leo related: - Physical: early spring is always a difficult time for me physically. It has been even more difficult now that it is impossible to swim regularly. - Personal: I am a privileged person. Nonetheless I have greatly missed routines such as music lessons. I am intensely introverted person, but even I miss normal human interactions. - Political: Many years ago now Ville Vainio suggested that I omit all political posts from this forum. It was good advice then, and it is even better advice now when the stakes and emotions are so high. For those who are interested, my personal blog <http://edreamleo.blogspot.com/> shows a sampling of recent thoughts and emotions. - Leo: All this happened just when I had concluded that Leo was at a true milestone. Yes, there are always more smallish projects to do. But for the first time ever none of the existing projects seems all that important. Furthermore, Leo can and will continue without me. So what can I still add? *What's next* Leo remains a key component of my personal happiness. Working on Leo calms me and gives me a sense of purpose. Like all "purposes", this purpose is mostly made up. Nevertheless, it seems essential. Other pursuits, especially music, just do not seem to be as satisfying as Leo. I have also been reading more, but nothing is as important to me as Leo. *Summary* The virus lock down has been a great disruption for most of us. For the most part I have adjusted to it. The next step for me will be focus on larger projects relating to Leo. I'll discuss these ideas in future posts.
