This page <https://www.electronjs.org/docs/tutorial/performance> documents performance considerations for electron. It's some of the best technical documentation I've ever read. After a brief introduction, it discusses various pitfalls. Each section discusses "why" and "how". It's a great way to organize this topic. It's similar to a FAQ, but less stilted, imo.
People criticized early versions of electron for poor performance. I haven't heard such rumbling recently, and vs-code itself seems plenty fast enough.
