So ... I'm very sorry wasting people's time, these facts are all true, and 
it definitely wasn't working,
but now after trying different things it does appear to (except paste as 
clone for some reason), 
but I'll keep digging. I wish I could definitively say which thing it was, 
but if/when I figure it out, 
I'll be sure to let people know. 

I see the Leo --trace=events & --trace-binding options and it's helping me 
out.
