My first sabbatical project (study unit) was to learn WordPress <https://wordpress.org/>. Important: wordpress.org is the way to go, not wordpress.com!
I created a website for Rebecca's weaving (rrhandwovens.com). I also created a site for my son James's candles. Jame's site is under construction. After an initial period of confusion, I was able to create rrhandwovens.com in a long day. That experience allowed me to do James's site in about three hours. WordPress is for people without tech skills. Such people can create a site just by pressing buttons. As a result, my mouse-hand shoulder got sore! My big breakthrough was realizing that WP documentation is mostly useless. I just googled: - "WordPress: how do I do X" - "WordPress: why is Y happening" WordPress does have some programmatic capabilities, but I haven't seriously investigated them. *Summary* Imo, I had no real choice about using WordPress. I want Rebecca and James to be able to manage their sites after I am gone. Starting with WordPress did not unduly prejudice me against other site builders. On the contrary, it has motivated me to investigate more programmatic builders. Pressing buttons gets very old very fast. Edward P.S. Rebecca's site has only one item for sale at present. It's a silk cowl. I have not tested the sales process. If you are interested in buying the cowl, please let me know first, so we can be sure to get the cowl to you.
