Thanks for your comments. You've convinced me that Leo should retain your original code, possibly modified to use the new vnode generators. The docstring should mention the reason for the extra complexity. Otoh, Leo doesn't use c.all_positions_for_v, so the question of its speed seems moot. Your complaints about positions were on my mind this morning when I began this thread. Imo, the more Leo can do in the VNode world the better. In particular, Leo 6.7.5 will revisit pastes, file format, and undo.
